Ethiopia is landlocked, and that single fact organises the entire logistics sector. The Djibouti corridor carries the overwhelming majority of trade, by road and by the electrified standard-gauge railway, and every serious operating model in the country is really a model of that corridor.

The commercial openings sit in the gaps: bonded and general warehousing near Addis Ababa and the industrial parks, cold chain for agricultural export, fleet and freight-forwarding capacity, and the dry-port and terminal handling that determines how long a container actually waits.

For a foreign operator the practical entry question is rarely the asset. It is customs documentation, clearing-agent relationships and the working-capital cycle that a slow clearance imposes. Firms that plan for the median clearance time rather than the advertised one are the ones whose numbers hold.
